The defendant confessed to 17 offences at Leicester Crown Court on the end of the week

An individual who laced sweets with sedative and distributed them to youngsters at a summer camp in Leicestershire has admitted sexual offences against two young males aged nine and 10.

Jon Ruben was detained after eight youngsters and an older person became sick at the location in the summer month.

The senior citizen, from that region, admitted guilt to a total of 17 charges when he was present at the judicial center on the end of the week.

However, he disputed one particular crime he was facing, which was involving a nine-year-old child.

Ruben was remanded in custody prior to a subsequent court date on 28 November.

The legal representative, prosecuting, detailed Ruben's offending to the legal proceedings.

She explained his victims were children from difficult backgrounds who were attending a youth camp which he ran.

The defendant conducted a "treat game" with the minors, the legal counsel explained, in which he would access the children's bedrooms when they were getting ready for bed and tell them to eat sweets "as fast as possible".

She informed the proceedings the man had engaged in this activity with the young males "repeatedly", and youngsters had previously fallen ill the next day.

She said Ruben had been successful in rationalizing this over a long period as the minors being "overwrought by enjoyment", until his stepchild had concerns in recently.

The legal representative added: "This year his family member had suspicions about what was going on, for good reason.

"They decided to have a look in the individual's items."

Mrs Prior KC stated objects including infant oil, Vaseline and medical needles were found, and his family member notified the authorities about his worries.

She said Ruben continued to conduct the "sweet game" with six children that night - Saturday 26 July - and they were all ill the next day.

"Law enforcement" had not gone out by that point," she stated further.

The regulatory agency, the police conduct office, earlier informed that it was investigating the police response of the events.

The prosecutor stated the minors were unable to walk properly due to their sickness, so the family member called the authorities once more.

She said Ruben then engaged in the "sweet game" in a space of five youngsters.
