Critical Role Season Four Introduces the Fighters Party

Since the launch of Campaign 4, fresh DM Brennan Mulligan has kept fans guessing with deep backstory, a wide array of characters, and a exciting storyline including divine entities, demons, and dark forces expanding in strength within Dol-Makjar.

Warning: Spoilers for the latest installment of the new season lie ahead.

The Combat-Oriented Party Unveiled

The latest chapter ended with a huge suspense moment and presented the first table of adventurers who will separate from the main group to undertake their own adventure, apart from the additional parties.

The combat-focused team features Teor Pridesire (portrayed by Travis Willingham), Thimble (the talented performer), the strong-willed figure (Whitney), the cleric (the player), and the mysterious adventurer (Robbie).

Dividing the Cast

With 13 cast members, it was evident from the outset that having everyone at the same party would be unfeasible.

Hence, the initial installments of Campaign 4 serve as an Introduction, connecting the personal journeys before dividing into three separate parties: Fighters, Schemers, and Seekers.

The Nature of the Warrior Group

Per the DM, the Soldiers table is for participants who enjoy a traditionally charged combat and conflict-driven story mode where non-violent answers are scarce.

Initially, characters like the hesitant healer the cleric might seem out of place, but the actions of episode 3 demonstrate why these particular heroes are ideally matched for the combat party.

Why They Must Go

To begin with, the team has a clear idea where to go next after a brutal first encounter with The Crow Keepers.

Casimir of the deceased character—whose passing kicked off the story’s plot—manipulated The Crow Keepers for his own means, invading the secret base, assaulting the character, and stealing all the magical artifacts to auction.

The antagonist then cleared his liabilities and escaped to a fortified location in the remote area, beyond the urban center, with Cyd Pridesire pursuing him.

Personal Motivations

Secondly, each member has a personal reason to depart the metropolitan area:

  • The agile hero, as Thjazi’s partner and trusted friend, seeks vengeance.
  • The knowledgeable figure is familiar with Timmony and warns that it is a nasty place.
  • The strong character and The cleric, having resisted his relatives’ demands to eliminate the fighter and instead rescued him, have no other options.
  • Yet, their reputation as important members in the powerful family could assist the team enter places they usually can’t.
  • Moreover, Teor pledged a life debt to The savior for his rescue and will now follow him everywhere.

Fugitives

In addition, all of them are hunted by the rulers that control the city for a multiple motives, making remaining behind dangerous:

  • The agile adventurer and The character are notorious outlaws.
  • The strong figure and The healer turned against the influential house and the legion of demons they are aligned with.
  • The fighter is targeted for elimination by House Halovar.

This results in them few options but to head to Timmony in quest for the antagonist.

Upcoming Developments

According to the latest episode’s follow-up content, we find out that the Soldiers table will be absent next week, leaving the other eight players to round up the Questers and Planners tables.

Audiences can expect learning which characters will be assigned to which table in the season’s last Overture episode, released on the upcoming Thursday.
