Area Law Enforcement
Approximately 50 cars have been covered with what appears to be blood from a person in the German city of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, as reported by law enforcement.
Automobiles, exterior walls and postboxes were marked, in some cases with swastikas, they reported in a official communication.
Law enforcement report they were notified during the night on Wednesday, when a man observed that a car in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been marked with a reddish liquid.
The fluid had been placed in the pattern of a Nazi symbol, they reported.
Police then discovered many other smeared vehicles and building exteriors in the adjacent neighborhood.
Nazi symbols are prohibited in Germany under legislation banning the public exhibition of symbols from the Nazi era.
Law enforcement say initial examinations indicate the substance was most likely blood from a person.
"Currently there is no indication as to its source; authorities are not yet aware of any harm in association with the incident," they stated.
Local authorities said they were trying "to unravel the case" and have asked to the public for tips.
An important representative said the vandalism rendered him without words and needed to be solved promptly.
"This act hits the very heart of Hanau and reopens the wounds of the right-wing attack half a decade ago," he posted on social media, recalling the killing of nine individuals by a gunman targeting residents of foreign heritage in 2020.
